The Library West Garden Terrace project at the University of Florida revitalizes an exterior terrace into an inviting, functional outdoor space for students, faculty, and visitors. The renovation included selective demolition, hardscape upgrades, landscaping, and the creation of seating and gathering areas that encourage both study and social interaction.
The project incorporated durable pavers, improved drainage, and low-maintenance landscape plantings to create a sustainable, low-upkeep environment. Enhanced lighting increases safety and extends usability into evening hours, while shaded seating areas provide year-round comfort. The completed terrace offers a modern, accessible, and welcoming green space that enriches the Library West experience and strengthens its connection to the broader campus community.
As part of the project, Oelrich Construction carefully relocated the Gator statue from the second floor of Library West to a new prominent location at the front entrance. The statue now serves as a focal point and popular photo opportunity for campus visitors, integrating seamlessly with the terrace improvements and celebrating UF’s school spirit.
