UF Veterinary Medicine 3-Story Clinical Skills Lab Addition

This project involved the construction of three new floors atop the existing one-story Veterinary Academic Building. The second floor space houses a state-of-the-art animal simulation laboratory used to train students in the skills required to operate on live animals. It features a special privacy ‘smart glass’ that turns opaque when activated and becomes transparent when switched.

To develop new methods of combating deadly diseases and viruses, the third floor space contains a self-sufficient, fully functioning research laboratory.

Third Floor

This modern laboratory space serves as a research center for a team of nine specialized researches, specializing in vaccines production for invasive animal diseases. This laboratory was constructed for Dr. Curtiss’ team who transferred here from Arizona to perform specialized research and development for the UF College of Veterinary Medicine.

It has state-of-the-art equipment and contains multiple freezer zones to maintain a constant temperature for research results.
