The Historic Thomas Center

The Historic Thomas Center serves as a cultural center, special events venue, and administrative office for the City of Gainesville. Oelrich Construction completed extensive improvements to Building B. Scope of work included: installation of new exterior stairs, accessible ADA ramp addition, and restoration of original hardwood flooring. We completed significant MEP modifications to conceal unsightly ductwork/electrical, in order to restore and preserve the building’s historic character.

The project involved matching the existing exterior stucco texture, modifying the existing hardscape, and re-painting.

Our field team carefully removed and restored existing historical trim work for re-installation. Construction took place in an occupied facility, which required re-locating some building occupants to temporary office spaces. Extensive wayfinding signage was installed to guide citizens and members of the public.
